Lance Reddick, the actor who broke out with a complex, powerful performance as Lieutenant Cedric Daniels on the groundbreaking HBO show The wirehas passed away.
The actor’s body was discovered Friday at his home in Studio City, TMZ reported. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Friday that he died of natural causes. He was 60.
Reddick had recently been promoted John Wick: Chapter 4the latest installment of the Keanu Reeves franchise in which he played Charon, the hotel concierge at New York’s criminal underground center, The Continental Hotel.
The actor was also known for his TV work on Zoom, Bosch And Lost. With a sonorous and memorable voice, Reddick also often worked as a voice actor on projects including The Vindicators, DuckTales, Rick and Morty And Castlevania.
Born in Maryland, Reddick originally studied at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in New York, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, landing years later at the Yale School of Drama.
Reddick turned 39 The wire premiered in June 2002. He had a dozen credits to his name, most notably the other HBO series Ozbut it was The wire that would change the trajectory of his career. David Simon’s drama explored crime and corruption in Baltimore and is considered one of the greatest TV shows of all time.

During his busy career, Reddick was part of Regina King’s SAG-nominated ensemble One night in Miami and worked on Netflix’s resident evil series, Comedy Central’s Commercial and FXs American horror story.
The actor’s death comes before the release of the fourth John Wickarriving on March 24. He has already completed several other projects, including the John Wick spinoff The ballerinaand 20th Century’s remake of White men can’t To jumparriving on May 19. He had also completed work on the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Reddick is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick.
