Rubicon TV, the Norwegian production house behind such crossover drama successes as lily hammerand progenitorsgets into the spy business with his new series E14 Unit for special Intel.
The show, which Rubicon presents this week to potential co-production partners at the international TV market MIPCOM in Cannes, looks at the untold story of how Norwegian officers from the country’s elite E14 unit played key roles as NATO spies on the front lines for NATO in the 1990 Yugoslav war. When the brutal civil war broke out in the country, a small group of E14 spies were sent to the Balkans to gather intelligence as part of the NATO intervention. The often ruthless and morally questionable mission contrasted sharply with Norway’s public image as a peace-loving nation.
Sebastian Torngren Wartin and Erik Ivar Sæther will co-write the series, which Gudny Hummelvoll (Busy, headhunters) will produce.
E14 will be Rubicon’s first project under new CEO, Ivar Køhn, who joined the Norwegian public broadcaster NRK’s company in January, where he was head of drama and oversaw productions such as state of happiness, July 22 and the international Emmy winner Atlantic crossing.
“As my first project at the helm of Rubicon TV, I am proud to be part of the team that will lift the covert operations of Norway’s first military NATO involvement,” Køhn said. “We are open to co-producing this gripping spy thriller that will expose the horror and bravery of war with powerful stories and strong characters, and how, ultimately, working for intelligence agencies means accepting that the only morals are those out there. benefit from. the mission of your country.”
