The Weeknd’s latest song is out and it’s a beautiful musical tribute to James Cameron’s avatar continuation.
Entitled “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)”, the four-plus minute track can be seen during Avatar: The way of the water‘s credits and arrives a day before the film’s official wide release on December 16 in the United States. Written and performed by The Weeknd, and produced by Swedish House Mafia along with Simon Franglen, the song is a pounding battle call that celebrates life, death and resilience.
The Weeknd teased the song on Dec. 4, posting a teaser of the song on his Instagram and Twitter with the avatar logo with the film’s release date as a caption. One of the film’s producers, Jon Landau, also tweeted a photo of him and the singer. “As the Na’vi say, ‘Zola’u nìprrte’ soaiane Avatar’…Welcome to the Avatar family,” he wrote.
The track is part of the film’s original soundtrack, which was released on Thursday and will be available on vinyl in early 2023. The album contains more than 20 songs, including ‘The Songcord’, which is performed by movie star Zoe Saldaña.
The way of the water Set and released ten years after the first film, following the Sully family – Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully and Saldaña’s Ney’tiri as they try to protect themselves and their children by venturing into new territory on Pandora amid of the re-emergence of a known threat.
After international opening Wednesday, Avatar: The way of the water grossed $15.8 million to date from 15 reported territories. The 20th Century and Disney release is expected to gross $150 million to $175 million upon its domestic debut, including a run of 4,100 theaters.
